How to get your home Festively Fresh!

Well the festive season is upon us and it's time for the pre-Christmas clean!

It's the time of the year for that final deep freshen up in the house, before the decorations go up and it turns even more homely than usual.

What are the best ways to ensure your property is bright, clean and merry?!

Well depending on if you have guests coming to stay, it's a good idea to pay attention to any guest bedrooms, and extra bathrooms, which may not often be used.

Over time dust can build up, so if you're due guests coming to stay in a room that hasn't been used or cleaned in a while - it's a good idea to start there!

You want your guests to feel at home and comfortable when staying with you, so ensure their space is clean and welcoming.

Put fresh bedding on the beds, fresh towels in the bathroom, and replace any air fresheners to make it smell inviting.

Ensure the hand soap, toilet roll and other essentials are stocked up in the bathroom.

This year it may be a good idea to provide some hand sanitiser too!

All the little details will be noticed and appreciated.

If you aren't expecting any guests to stay, it's best to focus on all of the communal areas - like the bathroom, kitchen and living room.

These areas are likely to be used the most over Christmas, especially if you don't have anyone staying but have people popping over - it's very likely they'll need to use the bathroom at some point!

So make sure these rooms have had a deep clean, and are sparkling ready.

One way to really make your home feel joyful is to switch over to festive scented cleaning products, reed diffusers, candles and wax melts.

A nice seasonal scent goes a long way when creating an ambient environment.

A great and simple tip for this, is to choose your favourite yuletide Zoflora scent, dilute it according to the ratios and wipe over the radiators with a damp microfibre cloth.

When the heating comes on it will make your home smell lush!

When it comes to Christmas, one of the main events is the food!

So it's good to prepare your kitchen for the chaos in advance.

This could include a fridge clean and clear out to ensure you have room for your festive food shop, and an oven clean so it is gleaming - ready for the turkey.

Making sure things like dishes and washing are up to date is important, over Christmas dirty plates will build up quickly so you don't want a backlog already waiting for you.

Again, it's likely that housework will take a backseat during this time, and rightly so as we will all be enjoying that special family time, so ensuring washing is done will take some pressure off and help to prevent such a heap to catch up on in the New Year.

Since it's Christmas time it's a great opportunity to dust everywhere before the decorations go up, as they will most likely get in the way and, lets face it, not a lot of housework will be getting done over the festive period!

It's always a good idea to start at the top and work your way down - for example, high dusting always comes first and skirting boards last.

Our microfibre extending duster is perfect for dusting high and low.

Always dust before vacuuming too, to ensure you pick up any particles that may fall.

So once your home is clean and fresh it's time to get the decorations up and add the final touches... balance the baubles on the tree, get tangled up in tinsel and wrap yourself in festive spirit!

Now you're prepared, all that's left to do is to turn on the festive music and enjoy the twinkling Christmas tree lights.
