How to clean your radiator
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR RADIATOR…
1. TURN OFF THE HEATING
Before you begin cleaning your radiators, it's important that they are turned off. It is not only safer but prevents them from drawing up more dust while you clean.
2. START WITH A VACUUM CLEANER
Before you reach for a radiator brush, use your vacuum to clean in, around and underneath the radiator. This will help to capture the dust, as opposed to unsettling it with a duster and pushing it back into the air. Use a vacuum to clear as much dust in and around the radiator as possible, if your vacuum has them, use the smaller attachments to get inside down the more hard to reach areas
3. USE A RADIATOR BRUSH
To reach the remaining and pesky bits of dust and dirt, after trying to remove with the vacuum, use a radiator cleaning brush. If you don't have one we have them available on our website (see the link at the end of the post). Remember to put down a towel under the radiator before beginning to clean with the brush at this stage to protect your flooring.
Make sure to get as much of the dust pushed to the bottom as possible to fall onto the towel.
4. WIPE DOWN WITH SOAP AND WATER
Next fill a bucket with warm soapy water. Use a soft sponge to wipe down the outside (anything too abrasive may scratch the surface of your radiator and we don’t want that!). Ensure your cloth is wet, but not dripped and give your radiator a good old proper wipe down.
For the harder to budge stains, leave a spray solution on for only a few minutes and then simply wipe again with your microfibre cloth. You’ll have a dazzling radiator in no time!
